Laptop Theft from Developmental Disability Non-Profit

In Jefferson County, Colorado, a non-profit organization was robbed Tuesday.

The ARC, an advocate for families and individuals with developmental disabilities, is now a victim of laptop theft. 9NEWS.com reported today, “The ARC used the stolen laptop for its movie nights and for presentations aimed at helping developmentally disabled teenagers make the transition to adulthood.”

According to the article, just as so many other companies are responding to the economic crisis, the ARC is suffering considerably. And as a non-profit, the probability of raising money for another laptop is very slim.

Joylnn Osborne, interim executive director of the ARC, said, “We’ll have to get another one. We need to get another one, and we’re a nonprofit and the times are a little tougher than they’ve been in the past – and we’re just like any other agency – it’s hitting us as well.”

Now to all our readers, this is not a deliberate tug at your heartstrings. Okay, maybe it is a little bit, but the point is laptop theft can happen to anyone — and the looming prospect of “identity theft” is not always the big issue at hand. In fact, maybe you’re just trying to help the world out, one laptop at a time.

And maybe you can start with MyLaptopGPS.
