Rip of the Week: Pastor Prays for Return of Stolen Sermons

In a sad but all-too-common form of data breach, CW13 reports (thanks also to Redemtech) on a Loomis, California pastor who returned home from church camp to find the door to his office open, and his laptop gone.

No big deal, or so he thought, since the donated laptop was five years old (or more) and essentially worthless.

“Then it dawned on me what was actually missing.  And…I cried.  I broke down.  I was by myself.  I was flipping out,” said Pastor Guisande.

Pastor Guisande had twenty years’ worth of sermon recordings on the laptop, plus other church documents. No backup. No anti-theft software or features. No tracking software. Here again is worthless hardware wrapped in priceless data.

We will certainly hope for a very good outcome in the case, and the numbers say that that’s extremely unlikely without software like MyLaptopGPS installed.
